Amanda's Top Five Wedding Tips
THE TOP 5 TIPS FROM A MARRIED BRIDE
Amanda wed her beau Gerardo in Bali at the exquisite Royal Pita Maha early in 2015 and here she shares with you her top five wedding tips.
DON’T HAVE CHAMPAGNE BEFORE WALKING DOWN THE AISLE.
What a great tip! The idea of having a few sneaky bubbles with your closest BFF’s before walking down the aisle seems like the perfect movie moment. In reality one glass can easily turn into a few which can equal more of a stumble down the aisle instead of a graceful and elegant entrance. This is your moment together as a couple where you are declaring your love to each other for the rest of time, so you want to be ever present in that moment. We say yes to a mid-morning or lunchtime glass for a little sparkle with a balance of plenty of water throughout the day for hydration.
2. always carry spare hair pins.
It’s always always best to be over prepared on wedding day. We believe you can never be over prepared. Our Botanica Wedding Day Team always have a specified kit on hand depending on their role on the day. For example our Wedding Coordinator will carry a kit bag that has anything in it from bandaids and Aeroguard to hair spray and breath mints. If you don’t have a wedding planner who will provide these in-case-of-emergency supplies then plan to have someone on the day who will have these for you. As a bride, you don’t want to be packing under your tulle!
3. If you are having an outdoor wedding wear comfortable shoes for you and your bridesmaids.
Unless you are used to walking around all day or working on your feet, like a hair stylist might, then you may find on your wedding day there is more walking or standing than you may be used to. Those 6 inch Manolo’s that you have been dreaming about will look amazing, but may not feel amazing after 8 hours. Have the best of both worlds. Wear your heels for the special moments and take a pair of gorgeous flats for times like walking in between photo locations or for the dance-floor later in the evening.
4. make sure you practice walking in your shoes before your wedding day (including your bridesmaids).
Sensing a theme here?! It is so important to wear in your shoes before your wedding day. There is nothing worse than the high-heel-shuffle; any girl who has work a pair of new heels for 2 hours will know the one. Slightly awkward bent forward walk where you are trying your best to look like you are walking upright, but end up looking like a praying mantis. You want to give the shoes a chance to get to know your feet before the big day so you both fit each other well. And take Amanda’s tip - this includes your bridesmaids. So ensure your shoes are all bought well ahead of time. Maybe even have a girls night in - PJ’s and heels?!
5. TAKE A MOMENT AND ENJOY EVERYTHING, THE DAY GOES FAST.
There is a reason why every bride and groom ever have this piece of advice to share post-wedding. The day does go fast. It speeds along like all good things that you never want to end. Be present, be clear and take moments to talk, savour and remember the day. Your photographer will capture the moments in stills but we absolutely recommend having a videographer to bring all of these moments for life so you can relive that day forever. This includes the moments you won’t witness like when you are having your photo tour and your guests are enjoying pre-reception festivities. The key is to take it all in. Be aware, present and in the moment for every part of the day. Let any hiccups slide by with ease so you can focus on the amazing day that your wedding day is.
