1. Uluwatu Temple and Jimbaran Sunset Dinner
Spend the day lying together in the cool caves on Bali’s rugged Bukit Peninsula. The beaches along this stretch are some of the most beautiful on the island and you’re guaranteed to have an extremely relaxing day here. You’ll enjoy the pristine white sand and crystal clear waters of Uluwatu and during low tide, you can go shell-picking in the stunning rockpools. When you’ve had enough of the sun, just set up camp in the shade of one of the many cosy caves.
In the evening, visit Uluwatu temple for the legendary Balinese Kecak sunset dance, before heading to Jimbaran Beach for an incredible candlelit seafood feast watching the ocean just meters from your table with your toes in the sand.Enjoy the various catches of the day, including clams, prawns and numerous types of fish. A lovely bottle of white wine together with the calming sea breeze and twinkling stars are perfect accompaniments. Our recommendation is Menega Cafe. It’s halfway down the main restaurant strip, they serve the best fresh seafood.
Where to stay: The Bukit Peninsula is full of wonderful options, but if you’re looking for something luxurious that truly stands out, try Ungasan Clifftop Resort. The name says it all – you’ll be enjoying views of the Indian ocean from dusk ‘til dawn in your private villa.
2. Watch a beachside movie at Karma Beach
Since you’re in Bali, you’ll probably want to take advantage of the gorgeous beaches as much as possible, so here’s another beachy option. Bali’s most exclusive club, Karma Kandara resort, is the perfect place to laze away the day on a sunlounger with a fresh, fruity cocktail in hand. This hidden beach paradise is located at the foot of a limestone cliff and can only be accessed by a private inclinator. The Aegean sea-inspired décor and unbeatable scenery make this one of the most romantic spots in Bali. Every Monday, Karma Kandara resort host a movie night under the starry, dreamy sky. Movies start at 6.30 pm, right after you enjoy a stunning sunset together.
Where to stay: Karma Kandara Villas are the pinnacle of indulgence. Enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and world-class accommodation options. You can also take advantage of the resort’s spa facilities as well its restaurant.
3. The 100 candles dinner in Ubud
Visit Ubud for another treat with the 100 candles dinner. Aptly named, it’s the background for a gorgeous softly lit celebration with scrumptious food that will have your mouth watering. Dinner is held at a restaurant called Swept Away. The restaurant itself is based at Samaya Resort in Sayan, Ubud and we’d be hard-pressed to find something more romantic in Ubud.
Where to stay: If you don’t stay at the Samaya Resort, consider booking a room at Kubu Kubu Resort just up the road. As a bonus they serve a super lush dinner in the middle of the pool. Think atmosphere plus and a possible proposal setting!
4. Monkey Forest, Rice Terraces and Ancient Temples
If you and your beau are feeling a bit adventurous, why not spend the day in Bali’s cultural centre, Ubud. There you can enjoy a different side to Bali, one full of lush greenery and mysticism. Take a trek through the sacred monkey forest and enjoy some of the most stunning rice terraces in Bali. While you’re there, don’t forget to visit Gunung Kawi, an 11th Century Hindu temple that’s one of the oldest in Bali. Again, this is for the more adventurous at heart. Why not spend your time hiking one of Bali’s volcanoes and enjoy a stunning sunrise view together? Your guide will help you traverse Mount Batur and it will take around 2 hours to reach the summit. It’s not the easiest of climbs, so bring appropriate shoes and a jacket for the top. Once you’ve reached the summit, cuddle up together and enjoy the chilly, cosy sunrise while patting yourselves on the back for a job well done. You’ll also enjoy a small breakfast cooked by the steam from the volcano while you admire the scenery. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a great experience for those who like a little bit of action and adventure.
Where to stay: Mount Batur is located in Kintamani, a mountainous region in Bali. Accommodation around here is scarce, but the stunning options that Ubud has are about an hour away. Your car will collect you from your hotel in the early morning so you can hold hands and nap together in the back seat on the way to the mountain.
6. Take a day cruise to the outer islands
If you’re a fan of the water than hire a luxury catamaran cruise to take you to Nusa Lembongan and back. Enjoy access to a private beach club, snorkelling or diving in crystal clear waters and of course, sunset cocktails. Some cruise ships like the Bali Dinner Pirate have lovely candle lit dinners on board. Book in advance because these cruises are often very popular.
Where to stay: If you want to head on land, we recommend you stay the night! There are a variety of great hotels depending on your needs. We recommend Le Pirate for an intimate couple’s experience. It’s located on Ceningan, the small island adjacent to Lembongan. A suspended bridge connects the two islands and it’s a super romantic trip to rent a scooter from the locals and tour the two islands together on one bike.
7. Spend the day in a spa
Head to Prana spa for a day of pampering luxury with your darling. Have a couples massage and scrub side-by-side before returning to your hotel and getting ready for a date.
Seminyak is full of amazing places to have dinner, but if we had to recommend one place it would be La Lucciola. This is one of the dreamiest beachside restaurants in Bali. Enjoy delectable Mediterranean cuisine while the sea breeze caresses you. Come around 6 pm and enjoy cocktails by the bar and the stunning sunset. The service here is amazing and we guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience for the two of you. After dinner, take a stroll through Petitenget and find somewhere cosy for a spot of dessert or just stay right there at La Lucciola and try the coconut and ginger pannacotta with poached tamarillo. Scrumptious!
Where to stay: Seminyak is full of luxury villas and hotels. W hotel is a great choice for those who want luxury and convenience. If you’d prefer a little more privacy then opt for The Seminyak Suite, a private beach-front villa that’s perfect for a couple’s getaway.
